IMMF ENDORSES GLOBAL COPYRIGHT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

London, 21 May 2003: The IMMF today announced its support for the launch of http://www.pro-music.org , a new international initiative to promote authorised sources of online music and help the public understand copyright and its central role in the dissemination of culture. The website is supported by an international alliance of musicians, performers, artists, music managers, major and independent record companies, and retailers across the music industry.

Pro-Music.org, which comes as paid-for online music services are emerging in Europe, is the music industry's latest effort to educate the public about the value of music and copyright. The coalition hopes the site's educational content will help consumers make choices that support the music they enjoy, rather than devaluing it through the spread of unauthorised Internet downloads.
