NORDIC GROUP OF IMMF - Thursday January 30, 2003 [12:04PM]
Through discussions between MMF Finland, MMF Denmark, MMF Norway and the new MMF Sweden we have all agreed that it is important for the Nordic territories to have an umbrella organisation in addition to each country MMF. This will also give the members more possibilities to network with other managers in the nordic area. We will also be looking for Nordic funds especially on the education side. |

FORUM ON CONCERT SAFETY - Saturday December 1, 2001 [12:41PM]
As noted in an earlier article we have made a forum for concert safety in Norway with the major promoters, venue-association and security-personell companies. The forum is now working with the Norwegian Police Directorate and will work with the Danish Government on exchange of knowledge within this area. Safety to the public in concerts has always been important to the festivals, but were specially put on the agenda by the government in Denmark after the Roskilde tragedy. We are pleased that the Norwegian Police Department are actively involved with the industry in this area to work on guidelines on concert safety so that the fans can feel safe going to festivals and concerts. |
VAT ON FOREIGN MANAGERS - Saturday December 1, 2001 [2:51PM]
Due to the new regulations of Norwegian Tax law a Norwegian Artist hiring a manager from abroad must pay 24% VAT on top of the managers service. This law was implemented from the 1. July 2001 as all services from this date have VAT. Any agency work can be deducted and is not supposed to be charged VAT.

IMPLEMENTING VAT ON SERVICES - Friday October 5, 2001 [5:16PM]
Though MMF Norway together with Gramart and Norsk Rockforbund got an excemption for VAT on most artist services, there will be VAT on specific management services. As most Norwegian managers handle a lot of cultural work you will only need to apply VAT on services that are concultancy based. These services include negotiation of contracts. Other agency or impressario work will not be a basis of VAT, as this service is not subject to VAT. The attatched document was written to MMF Norway from Oslo tax office. It is in Norwegian. For more questions on this issue contact MMF Norway or your local tax office. |
SECURITY FORUM - Sunday January 7, 2001 [3:57AM]
After the Roskilde festival tragedy killing 8 people last Summer MMF Norway together with the Rock Promoters Association and key industry security personell has started a forum for discussions on safety on Norwegian Festivals. The forum will invite the Norwegian Police, Department of Justice and Department of Culture to focus on this issue and improve safety by awareness at all Norwegian Festivals. On the 18 th of December a report was presented in Denmark on this issue. We will use the report and "The Event Safety Guide" (HSE Books) as documentation for a Norwegian report and guide to the festivals. |
IMPLEMENTING VAT ON SERVICES - Monday January 24, 2000 [2:07PM]
From July 1st VAT is to be calculated on all services in Norway. After working with this issue the last half year there will be no VAT on tickets and artist fees. At the moment the new law says that VAT will be applied on management, bookingagency and crew. We feel that this will become to expensive for artists that already have problems with touring in this country. Also if the artist hires a management abroad the artists will not have to pay VAT. MMF Norway are fighting this issue at the moment. We hope to get no VAT on agency fees, light/sound, security and management. More information will follow. |
